In January, Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East was named by the Portland Business Journal as one of Oregon’s most admired nonprofit organizations. In an award ceremony at the Portland Hilton Ballroom, more than 750 business leaders gathered together to honor companies and nonprofits alike, and Habitat took home one of the day’s most prestigious honors. “Being recognized like this by the peers in our community is a tremendous honor,” said Tor Ostrom, Habitat’s Director of Volunteer Programs and Corporate Engagement, “these are the people we see donating their time and money to our organization, and to know that not only do they believe in our mission, but they truly admire the work we do together, really means a lot.”
To date, Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East has served over 1,600 people in Portland and Gresham through new home construction and home repairs. The work we do is a combination of community donations and volunteers on build sites helping to build homes alongside future homeowners. To see how your company can get involved, click here.
