I need urgent repairs. Can Habitat help?

Unfortunately, we do not provide emergency repairs. Please call 2-1-1 (toll-free: 1-866-698-6155) or visit 211info.org for local resources. You can also visit Portland.gov for tips on hiring licensed contractors. If your emergency involves a water leak, contact your water utility provider.

When will Home Repair applications open?

Home Repair applications open on July 1, 2025. Applications may close if the Home Repair Program reaches capacity, so interested applicants are encouraged to apply early (beginning July 1, 2025).

Is there a waitlist?

No, we do not maintain a waitlist. Complete applications will be processed in the order received during an open application period.

I left a voicemail and haven’t heard back. Should I call again?

Please allow up to 5 business days for a response. Our small team is handling a high volume of calls and messages — thank you for your patience.

Does Habitat work on mobile homes?

Yes, the Home Repair Program may provide limited repairs to mobile or manufactured homes that are owner-occupied, permanently affixed (no RVs, vans, or 5th wheels), and structurally sound. Secured loans are not available for mobile or manufactured homes.

I rent my home, Can I apply for Habitat’s Home Repair Program?

The Home Repair Program can only work with homeowners who occupy their home as a primary residence. Renters should contact their landlord or property manager about home repair needs.

Did you receive my application?

We will send you a confirmation email when we receive your application. Please provide a working email address that you check regularly. Our team reviews Home Repair Program applications in the order in which they are received. Please note, the application is not completed until all required documentation is submitted. We cannot evaluate incomplete applications.

When will I find out if my application is approved?

Application review times may vary based on the volume of applications we receive, but you can usually expect three weeks for our team to fully process a complete application.

I took out a HELOC loan AFTER being accepted into Habitat’s Home Repair program but BEFORE signing a loan with Habitat. Am I still eligible?

We will need to review the details of the HELOC loan and determine eligibility.

Since applying for Habitat’s Home Repair Program, my lender sold the mortgage to another lender/company, will this affect my application??

No, this will not affect your application

Can loan signings happen at a client’s home if there are mobility challenges?

Yes, Habitat for Humanity’s notary is available to meet at a client’s home when an accommodation is needed.
