We had a great turn out at our Helensview dedication where 20 people received the keys to their new homes. Habitat Homebuyers, staff, volunteers, and neighbors from the community came out to celebrate with the happy families. Spirits were high despite the heat with a BBQ provided by Parr Lumber and live Cajun and zydeco music provided by Julia McCarl and friends.
Building a new home is a community effort and dedications are opportunites to celebrate everyone who helped make the dream of home ownership a reality. Homebuyers complete 300 hours of sweat equity building their homes alongside volunteers and construction staff. We also celebrated some of our extraordinary “Golden Hammer” volunteers who have put in over 100 hours of their time. Of course donors play an essential role as well and the completion of these three homes would not be possible without the support of Sunset Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the Beadnell Family.
Sayyu Paw, whose family will be moving into one of the three homes said:
“When I think of my future home, I picture my family light hearted, house full of smiles on everyone’s face.”
