Get ready to join your neighbors on Saturday, October 24th from 9am to 12pm to make a difference in your community! Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East will host its third annual Rock the Block event in Cully to help residents make needed street improvements. Habitat will coordinate volunteers and provide gravel, asphalt, and tools to fill potholes on an unimproved block. If you’d like to see improvements to a street near you, nominate it for Habitat’s Rock My Block! contest.
Submissions will be accepted throughout September and can include anything that makes the case for why your street should be chosen. Examples include brief stories, photos, videos, drawings, etc. All submissions should include a name, address, phone number, email address, and block description (example: 62nd Ave. between Roselawn and Sumner). You may send your nomination to jessica@habitatportlandmetro.org, mail it to PO Box 11527, Portland OR 97211, or deliver it to the Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East office at 1478 NE Killingsworth St.
Follow the contest as we post our favorite entries on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram tagged with #habitatrockmyblock. The selected street will be announced in early October.
