News Release: EAT DRINK BUILD – Dine out in April and support a local family’s Habitat for Humanity home

Local restaurants participating in April’s Eat Drink Build event

(March 26, 2018)—Join Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East’s Women Build Committee on Wednesday, April 4th for the 6th annual Eat Drink Build, an all-day fundraising event for a local family in need of a stable, healthy Habitat home.
Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East’s Women Build Committee is currently raising money to build their 13th home. They are partnering with Minh Nguyen, a single mother who is looking for a stable, affordable home to raise her daughters. She dreams of purchasing an affordable home for her family. Nguyen will put in 300 hours of sweat equity building her home and participating in Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership education courses before purchasing her home with an affordable mortgage.
‘Dine in’ or ‘take out’ at any of the sponsoring restaurants or cafes! A percentage of each purchase will be donated to the Women Build committee’s home-building efforts in partnership with a local family, helping them to foster strength, stability, and independence.
This is an opportunity for Portland-area food and beverage establishments to proactively advocate for stronger, safe communities through affordable homeownership. The longest participating restaurant is Tamale Boy Dekum. Additional locations include Dick’s Kitchen SE, Huber’s Cafe, Pambiche, Southpark Seafood, and The Whole Bowl.
