News Release: Habitat for Humanity Announces Three New Board Members

PORTLAND, OR January 2, 2020—Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East announces the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors. Joining the Board of Directors are Gail Baker, Kabir Bhatia, and Jay Robinson III.
“All three of our newest Board members embody the spirit of the Portland Metro community and bring talent, expertise and energy to the table,” stated Steve Messinetti, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity. “We are very fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to increase affordable homeownership opportunities in our community.”

Gail Baker is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications at Cambia Health Solutions. She brings a wealth of experience in corporate and executive messaging, stakeholder and employee communications, public relations, social media and brand strategy. Gail is an active member of the community and passionate about helping children, serving on various nonprofit boards and committees over the years such as CASA, The Leadership Roundtable and YWCA of Greater Portland. Gail has won the Cambia Values Award for Trust, as well as various Spotlight awards through the Public Relations Society of America. Gail earned bachelors and master degrees in communications from the University of North Dakota.

Kabir Bhatia is GM of Responsive Materials Management Initiative at Nike. His team is working on getting products to consumers faster by creating a synchronized material supply chain and unlocking progressive staging. Kabir has been at Nike nearly 5 years, where he was initially hired as Senior Director of Finance for Global Sourcing and Manufacturing. Prior to moving to Portland, Kabir lived in Los Angeles where he worked with Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and Mattel Inc. He received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University in India, his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at UMass, Amherst and his MBA in Finance from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Jay Robinson III
is new to his role of Hospital Administrator at Kaiser Permanente and new to the city of Portland. His career has taken him all around the nation from Virginia, Tennessee, Illinois and now Oregon where he has a history of board leadership in every community including March of Dimes, America Heart Association and Reach Memphis, an educational achievement org. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia and his MBA in Health Care Administration and Management from Concordia University in Chicago.
