The Homeowner Leadership Council (HLC) launched in 2024 to create space for homeowners to connect, learn, and help shape the future of Habitat for Humanity Portland Region. Over the past year, HLC members have built a strong foundation together. They’ve established group agreements, explored personal leadership goals, and created a culture of trust, belonging, and collaboration.
What we do
The HLC supports collective action to address community issues. Members have played an advisory role on Homeownership program policies, tabled and spoken at events, and shared their experiences with new homebuyers.
HLC members believe in uplifting others while making better lives for themselves, their families, and future generations. They draw from their lived experiences to seek solutions, create positive change, and help others overcome barriers to becoming homeowners.
The Council is now guiding the creation of a Small Grants Program. The goal is to provide financial investment and tactical support for projects that enhance social cohesion within Habitat neighborhoods.
Together, we build thriving and inclusive communities.
