Heading into spring, our construction sites are busy and buzzing with activity. With over 15 construction employees and dedicated volunteers, we’ve now grown to three construction sites that operate across the city. This means that no matter the weather or time of year, we are out there building affordable homeownership at three times the pace! Currently, we are actively building over 50 homes and have many more in pre-development stages. Here are the updates on the projects we are currently working on:
Cully Place
Landscaping, inspections, and appraisals are helping wrap up Habitat’s most recently completed community at 57th & Killingsworth St. A new street with sidewalk accompany the 15 home community’s fresh landscaping design to make it a bright spot in the rapidly changing Cully Neighborhood.
Olin Townhomes
Finishing touches are being made on the 12-home community in North Portland’s Portsmouth Neighborhood. The twin buildings are expected to be finished in the coming months and will be Habitat’s first three-story structures! Crews and volunteers are busy installing electrical and plumbing before we begin the insulation process.
Kilpatrick Condos
At Kilpatrick & Interstate in North Portland’s Kenton Neighborhood, Habitat’s large 30-home community is seeing great progress that has been aided by unseasonably warm weather. The site’s first phase, consisting of 12 homes, has roofing completed and will soon see the electricity and plumbing systems installed. Next, we’ll be putting in windows, siding, and other energy-efficient materials to ensure these homes stay warm and dry for their lifetime. John Keenan-Mudrick, the site’s construction supervisor, said that there is “good momentum and good weather is helping” to move things forward.
