Habitat for Humanity Portland Region welcomes five new board members

Habitat for Humanity Portland Region welcomes five new members to the board of directors. These appointments bring the total number of board members to 23.  

Joining the board of directors are Tonya Adams (Regence), Reed Adamson (Silversmith Strategies), Jordana Loughran (Dunn Carney LLP), Jessie Silverthorne (Freddie Mac), and AJ Simpson (City of Roses Disposal & Recycling). 

 “The Habitat board is honored to welcome our newest board members to join us in our mission to increase affordable homeownership in our communities with a focus on closing the homeownership gap for families of color,” said Gail Baker, chair of the board. “Each one of the five new board members adds depth, breadth of experience, and expertise to our dedicated, future-focused board.” 

Tonya Adams is Senior Vice President and Chief Health Services Officer of Regence. She has been a healthcare executive for 20 years, having previously worked at Molina Healthcare, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Anthem. Adams also serves on the boards of the American Heart Association and Cambia Health Foundation. She was honored as one of the Portland Business Journal’s Women of Influence in 2022.


Reed Adamson is a partner at Silversmith Strategies, a full-service media firm focused on the political arena. He has spent more than a decade fighting for progressive causes and helping elect politicians in high-stakes local and national races. Adamson has been a member of Habitat’s Ambassador Council since its inception. 


Jordana Loughran is an attorney at Dunn Carney LLP, specializing in a broad range of commercial real estate and business matters. With a focus on real property acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing, and financing transactions, Jordana also has a strong background in representing and forming planned communities. 


Jessie Silverthorne

Jessie Silverthorne serves as Associate General Counsel for Freddie Mac. Her work currently focuses on multifamily real estate, including production and underwriting, asset management and operations, and equity. Silverthorne has previously represented lenders and borrowers in construction and healthcare. 


AJ Simpson is the Chief Operating Officer at City of Roses Disposal & Recycling. The family-run business prioritizes social responsibility and sustainability. Simpson is the current co-chair of Habitat’s Ambassador Council and an active member of the National Association of Minority Contractors. He previously helped the city of Portland set and monitor goals for equitable waste collection as a member of the Waste Equity Advisory Group.
