WHAT: Leaders from state, county, and city governments will be swinging hammers together at one of Habitat for Humanity’s newest communities in Gresham, Myrtlewood Way, featuring 20 homes with 3, 4, or 5 bedrooms, that will house over 80 people.
Joining Habitat for Humanity at this site celebration event at the Myrtlewood Way property will be Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson, Multnomah County Commissioner Shannon Singleton, Representative Thuy Tran, Representative Annessa Hartman, Portland City Councilor Olivia Clark, Portland City Councilor Jamie Dunphy, Portland Housing Bureau Director Helmi Hisserich, and Proud Ground’s Executive Director, Dominique Merriweather.
Habitat for Humanity is calling on the community to come out and volunteer with a group this year at Myrtlewood Way.
The 20 homes at Myrtlewood Way will be located across the street from the Nadaka Nature Park and Garden in the Rockwood neighborhood, known for its cultural diversity. The community will feature a beautiful green space with mature Douglas Fir trees. All of the homes will be purchased with affordable mortgages, sold to first-time homebuyers ready to plant roots and build equity in this community. Each home will be Platinum Earth Advantage certified, meeting the highest standards for energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and sustainable building practices.
