The first homes are rising at Gooseberry Trails, Habitat Portland Region’s largest community yet! After months of site development, this neighborhood is buzzing with activity as trades and volunteers begin framing the first of the future 52 homes.
Framing is in full swing
“It’s really exciting to see future homes finally go up. It really gives you an actual visual of what we’re trying to accomplish here,” says Site Superintendent Christian. When it’s finished, Gooseberry Trails will provide permanently affordable homeownership opportunities to families with few other paths to owning homes. With every wall raised, it’s easier to picture the neighborhood full of kids at the playground and neighbors becoming friends.

Volunteer power
Volunteers have already made a big impact. From site-prep to building a shady volunteer area to framing, they’ve been a key part of progress.
Looking ahead, we’re excited for many more months of framing with volunteers and will soon be pouring the slab for the next volunteer-framed building!
