2025 is winding down, but construction is still heating up. We had a record year, with the most developments simultaneously under construction in Habitat Portland Region’s history.
Before we move into another busy year, take a look at the progress our amazing crews, volunteers, and supporters made across our build sites!
West Lake Grove

Habitat’s 23-home Lake Oswego community is shaping up by the day. Site superintendent Hector Orozco reports that Building 1 and Building 6 — both framed by volunteers — will be finished by the end of 2025. This year has been transformative.
“There was nothing and there are five buildings up now. That’s a big deal,” he says.
In November alone, Building 1 got exterior paint, Building 2 received its roofing trusses, the crew started the foundation for Building 3, and they moved ahead with framing the floor in Building 4 and interior work on Building 5.
Volunteers have been instrumental, most recently helping with interior work in Building 5, finishing the decks behind Buildings 4, 5, and 6, and building benches for a natural play area.
“Them coming out here with smiles on their faces and being appreciative when we’re able to teach them a new skill, that’s pretty cool,” Hector says.
When it is complete, West Lake Grove will bring much needed affordable housing opportunities to Lake Oswego. Its 23 homes will feature six different floor plans: 14 homes will have 4-bedrooms, and nine will have 3. There will be a natural play area for the community to gather.
Twenty Fifth Terrace

We’re going vertical! Our Twenty Fifth Terrace community in SW Portland’s Markham neighborhood is welcoming volunteers and making big strides. Site Superintendent Greta Brown is excited to move forward after a year full of working out the logistics of excavating and installing infrastructure in this unique, steep site. Now, civil engineering has been completed for the upper half of the site, and seven foundations are finished.
By the end of 2025, all the foundations will be poured, and vertical construction will be underway. In November, crews poured concrete slabs, formed walls, and installed utility infrastructure.
Now that the “heavy lifting” is wrapping up, Greta is looking forward to welcoming volunteers into what she says will be a “banner year.”
When it’s finished, the community will feature three private roads, a natural play area, and 17 homes ranging from 3 to 5 bedrooms, all with single-car garages.
“Just looking at the homes, they’re like a hug. They’re very warm to view,” says Greta.
Century Commons

Homebuyers will start moving in before the new year! One of Habitat’s largest projects as far as land size goes, Century has come a long way in 2025.
“2025 was a big year in terms of what a person walking down the street might see,” says project engineer Zoe Pavkovic.
It’s true: 2025 brought exteriors, paint, fences, landscaping, and all those final touches that make Century Commons feel like a warm, welcoming neighborhood.
The 18-home community in Hillsboro’s Reedville neighborhood will feature 3- and 4-bedroom homes as well as 4 single-level ADA ready homes. The recently completed walking path and children’s play area will provide outdoor space for neighbors to connect.
Zoe says seeing the final touches wrapping up after a long construction process “puts it all into perspective: these are real homes that people are going to be living in.”
Gooseberry Trails

Our largest development to date, Gooseberry Trails will build 52 homes in SW Portland’s Hillsdale neighborhood! The crew is hard at work getting utilities and infrastructure to the sprawling site and finishing the retaining wall on the private road.
With private utilities installed and site grading nearly done, Site Superintendent Ryan Martini says he hopes to move into vertical construction in early spring 2026.
Volunteers can soon look forward to opportunities to help frame homes — predicted for early summer 2026!
Beyond the sheer size of the community, Ryan says the most exciting thing about Gooseberry has been installing the multi-use path that residents will eventually be able to walk, bike, skate, and gather on.
“The best moment so far has been putting in the path, it looks good going through the woods. Seeing that come together so quick, it was instant payoff.”
The path, like the rest of the site, still has a way to go until it’s ready for use. But every manhole, road, and pathway installed brings us one step closer to welcoming residents home.
Myrtlewood Way

Thanks to the help of volunteers and trade partners, our 20-home community in Gresham’s Rockwood neighborhood is 98% built!
Check out this video to hear from Site Superintendent Travis Schultz:
Travis says he is so grateful for volunteers’ help getting buildings framed, and hopes to have more hands on deck to finish Building I in December.
King City Commons

King City Commons welcomed homeowners this year after finishing construction! This vibrant community just south of Tigard is designed to create lasting affordability for homeowners. Site Superintendent Ryan Martini says “the homes are not only affordable to buy, they’re affordable to own.”
