Is Habitat’s Home Repair program free?
Habitat provides home repairs through 0% interest loans.
In some cases, depending on household income, repairs needed, and available funding, there may be no repayment involved. This is determined on a case-by-case basis.
When will Home Repair applications open?
Applications will open on Monday, June 22 at 9 am for U.S. military veterans. For more information, please click here.

Is Habitat’s Home Repair program only for veterans?
The application round opening in June 2026 is made possible by the Veteran Restore Health and Safety Program. Only veterans or their surviving spouses are eligible. Please find more details here.

I rent my home. Can I apply for Habitat’s Home Repair Program?
No, the Home Repair Program can only work with homeowners who occupy their home as a primary residence.
Renters should contact their landlord or property manager about home repair needs. You can also call (toll-free: 1-866-698-6155) or visit 211info.org for renter-friendly accessibility or energy resources.
Does Habitat work on mobile homes?
Yes, the Home Repair Program may provide limited repairs to mobile or manufactured homes that are owner-occupied, permanently affixed (no RVs, vans, or 5th wheels), and structurally sound.
Secured loans are not available for mobile or manufactured homes.
Did you receive my application?
If the application is completed online, you will be directed to a confirmation page. A copy of your application will also be emailed to you.
For paper applications received via mail, we will call or email to confirm it’s received.
We will reach out either by email or letter every 30 days after a completed application has been submitted to provide updates.
When will I find out if my application is approved?
Our team reviews Home Repair Program applications in the order in which they are received.
We cannot review incomplete applications. Please make sure to submit all Required Documents.
Application review times may vary based on the volume of applications we receive. During high volume periods some applications may take months to fully process.

What type of repairs does Habitat do?
Our Home Repair program focuses on critical health and safety repairs, which may include roof repairs and replacements, siding, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, accessibility modifications, and more.
This program is not designed for cosmetic updates, remodeling, routine maintenance (such as gutter cleaning), appliance repairs, or landscaping/yardwork.
Who does the repair work? Can I select my own preferred contractors?
No, you cannot select your own contractor. Habitat will select the contractor from our approved vendor list.
Habitat uses staff, volunteers, and/or subcontractors depending on the nature of the work.
I took out a HELOC loan AFTER being accepted into Habitat’s Home Repair program but BEFORE signing a loan with Habitat. Am I still eligible?
We will need to review the details of the HELOC loan and determine eligibility.
Since applying for Habitat’s Home Repair Program, my lender sold the mortgage to another lender/company. Will this affect my application?
No, this will not affect your application
Can loan signings happen at a client’s home if there are mobility challenges?
Yes, Habitat for Humanity uses a mobile notary and is available to meet at a client’s home when an accommodation is needed.
